How does the Community Foundation reach the tough decisions about making grants from the Community Funds dedicated to improving the life of our region? We start with staff experts — including grant specialists in each Results area — who review every grant application and evaluate the potential for partnerships on specific strategies.
We also turn to the community through our Grant Review and Evaluation Committee, known as GREC. Serving on the committee are members of our board and people from various parts of our region who provide a broader perspective on how we can make the most of our limited grant dollars.
Board member Ronne Hess chairs the committee, which also includes John A. Floyd Jr., Kathryn Miree, Cameron Vowell and Dee Woodham from our board and the following community members: Walter Body, Tammy Connor, Andrea Faush, Deon Gordon, Karen Piassick, Fred Renneker and Anne Warren.
Our thanks to each member for spending hours reviewing information provided by so many great nonprofit organizations! Your input ensures the best possible recommendation to our full board for approval as we move forward through our twice-a-year grant process.
Together, we continue to look for the most effective strategies to reach the results our community wants. To find out more about GREC and the overall grant process, contact James McCrary on our staff.
