Three Black Belt families have returned home again, thanks to the Bama Rising Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham and other contributors. On Dec. 2, the Fields, Martin and Brown families are celebrating with many of the volunteers, donors and organizations that made this possible.
Hale Empowerment and Revitalization Organization, Inc. (HERO) and Habitat for Humanity, Hale County Inc. (HFH, Hale County Inc.) are organizing a house blessing ceremony for Dec. 2. The event and tour start at PieLab on Main Street in Greensboro and continues to each of the homes.
If you would like to participate in the festivities, meet at PieLab at 10 a.m. December 2. For more information, contact a HERO representative by e-mail or call 334-624-0842.
The Bama Rising Fund, an Advised Fund established with proceeds from a benefit concert organized by the band Alabama, provided a grant of $75,000 to support construction of volunteer-built homes in Hale, Marengo, and Sumter counties.
