Women and newborns find world-class care that’s friendly to families

June 15, 2010

The largest all-private-room, special-care-nursery unit in the country is also one of the newest additions to the amazing health care opportunities available right here in Birmingham. In fact, every patient room in the new UAB Women and Infants Center is private, and family members are allowed to visit at all hours of the day and night, seven days a week.

That’s just one of the innovations in the center, which combines all inpatient women’s services at UAB under one roof for the first time, with direct connection to the rest of UAB Hospital, and bridges that will link up with the new Children’s Hospital when it is completed. The family-centered model of care extends from the neonatal intensive care unit to gynecology, providing a place for women to find world-class care, whatever their needs.

Your Community Foundation is proud to have provided a grant to this effort and prouder still for what this means for our whole community, as the new center transforms the way we care for women and infants in a truly world-class facility.
