Darrien Hess has been selected as the inaugural Cromwell Trust Scholarship winner. Mr. Hess will be awarded a one-time $5,000 scholarship to University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music.
Darrien’s passion for theatre is evident in every way, from his involvement in Red Mountain Theatre Company’s Youth Programs to his start as a stage manager at the age of fifteen. When asked about his drive for performing arts, Darrien laughs, “Where else can you come into a room with a group of people and play make-believe for hours on end and not have people think that you have completely lost your mind?”
With his history as a stage manager, opportunities shadowing national Broadway productions, and the chance to work with nationally known composers, choreographers, and producers, Darrien has embraced every chance to succeed. His goal is to one day work internationally as a stage manager for cirque du Soleil or a Broadway stage manager. With his aspiration and determination, perhaps both!
The Cromwell Trust Scholarship Fund was established by Keith and Ronald Cromwell, whose passion for the performing arts led their drive to help other artists succeed. This scholarship is awarded annually to aspiring artists of any age, with a preference for those pursuing performing arts and a career in the arts.
