Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Promotes Three Key Leaders

The Community Foundation is pleased to announce the promotion of three key leaders: Terri Epting to Chief Financial Officer, Gus Heard-Hughes to Vice President of Programs and Lora Terry to Vice President of Philanthropic Services.

Terri Epting was named Chief Financial Officer in December and has been with the Foundation since 2015. She has more than twenty-eight years of professional experience in accounting and management, as well as thirteen years of professional human resource management experience. Terri holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech and a Master’s in Management of Technology from Southern Tech and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Gus Heard-Hughes was named Vice President of Programs for the Community Foundation. He leads the Programs Team’s work on competitive grants, special RFPs (requests for proposals) and initiatives. Gus has been with the Community Foundation since 2011 and most recently served as Senior Program Officer.  Before coming to the Community Foundation, Gus served as a Senior Field Coordinator with Heifer International. He holds a BA in Sustainable Food Systems from Hampshire College and a Master of Social Work in Social Policy and Administration from Florida State University.

Lora Terry is the new Vice President of Philanthropic Services. In this role she will work to align the philanthropic interests of donors with needs in the Greater Birmingham region.  Lora is a Birmingham native and graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis.  She joined the Community Foundation in 2011 and prior to that worked at the YWCA of Central Alabama. Lora is a member of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham where she has served in various leadership roles, including as President and Chair.
