Experimental eye surgery in 1953 gave Verda Clifton a lifetime of vision. In 1993 and again at her death in 1998, she extended her vision and her legacy with gifts to the Community Foundation that would benefit community health, child welfare and environmental causes forever.
Today, through the Burnie and Verda Clifton Fund, your Community Foundation can support the changing needs of the community and make pivotal investments, such as the first-ever grant to KidOne Transport and seed funding for the Three Parks Initiative. The issues that the Cliftons cared about during their lives are still being supported today through grants from the fund that bears their name.
What vision Mrs. Clifton had when she established this grantmaking fund with a gift during her lifetime and additional support through her estate! We celebrate that vision by honoring her and others through our Community Builders Legacy Society.
