Young women with breast cancer help each other

July 18, 2012

Women's Breast Health Fund supports Young Breast Cancer Survivors Network initiativeHow can young women who are surviving breast cancer help each other get the education and support they need to improve their lives and those of the people who love them? With grant support from the Women’s Breast Health Fund of the Community Foundation, the UAB School of Nursing is organizing focus groups to find out more about those needs.

If you are at least 19 years old and were diagnosed with breast cancer before menopause, you can sign up to join an informal focus group on Wednesday, September 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Cancer Society office (1100 Ireland Way, Suite 201) .

Please call 205-975-8656 or 1-866-662-0630 or contact Silvia Camata by e-mail to sign up or to learn more about the Young Breast Cancer Survivorship Network. Lunch will be provided for the focus group, along with $10 for your help.

We look forward to great results from this initiative and other efforts supported by the Women’s Breast Health Fund of the Community Foundation. If you want to know more about how you can invest your charitable dollars to drive positive change in the Birmingham region, contact Erin Stephenson.
