The Jefferson County Department of Health Public Health Advised Fund awards grants to preserve, protect and enhance the general health and environment in Jefferson County.

ABC Coke Fund Request for Proposals

The ABC Coke Fund is a grant program of the JCDH Public Health Advised Fund to benefit the public health of residents near the ABC Coke plant in Tarrant. Organizations serving the Tarrant, Inglenook, and/or North Birmingham communities near the ABC Coke plant in Tarrant are invited to apply for funding to support public health-related programs, services, and activities in these communities.

Funding for this program comes through a consent decree and settlement with Drummond Company that directed $387,500 through the Jefferson County Department of Health to the JCDH Public Health Advised Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.

An advisory committee with representation from the Tarrant, Inglenook, and North Birmingham communities will help advise the Jefferson County Department of Health on grant recommendations to the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham.

The RFP opens May 13th with applications due by Friday, July 9th at midnight. For proposals invited to move forward, site visits will be scheduled in July and grant awards will be announced at end of August
