Birmingham Business Relief Fund
In partnership with the City of Birmingham, a fund has been opened at the Community Foundation to support the small businesses and storefronts that sustained damage due to the unrest following the peaceful protests on the evening of May 31. The Birmingham Business Relief Fund was launched on Monday afternoon.

COVID-19 and the Birmingham Economy
During the unprecedented COVID-19 public health and economic crisis, the Community Foundation has partnered with local and national experts to offer a series of one-hour community conference calls addressing essential issues for civic, business and nonprofit leaders.

Community Foundation Awards Third Round of COVID-19 Emergency Response Grants
The following grants were awarded by the Community Foundation in our second round of COVID-19 emergency grantmaking. Rapid Response Grants address immediate, basic needs related to the COVID-19 crisis are awarded in amounts up to $25,000. Nonprofit Adaptation Grants are designated for organizational adaptations to avoid or mitigate disruption of services are awarded in amounts up to $5,000. To date, the Community Foundation has awarded $644,000 in emergency assistance grants to 39 organizations.

Community Foundation Announces Second Round of COVID-19 Emergency Grants
The following grants were awarded by the Community Foundation in our second round of COVID-19 emergency grantmaking. Informed by information from over 250 nonprofit organizations, this framework provides two types of grants. Rapid Response Grants address immediate, basic needs related to the COVID-19 crisis are awarded in amounts up to $25,000. Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Responds to Support Organizations on the Front Lines
Philanthropic partners, businesses and individuals have responded generously with contributions to the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham’s COVID-19 Relief Fund with the first round of grants being deployed to organizations on the front lines in our region this week. $290,000 in grants were awarded to non-profit organizations that serve our five-county region, and include:

SBA Hotline for Nonprofits
The Community Foundation provided a grant to support the Birmingham Business Resource Center in providing navigation support exclusively to nonprofits who are applying for funding through the Payroll Protection Program of the CARES Act.

Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham Opens Emergency Grants for COVID-19 Response
The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham is opening a new process to make grants quickly available to organizations on the front lines of providing critical services and economic assistance for the COVID-19 crisis in our region. The Foundation is dedicating more than $1 million from its competitive grantmaking funds as the resource for this first phase of response to the crisis.
