Aid for Puerto Rico

The 2017 hurricane season has had a devastating impact on Puerto Rico and many other communities. Here are some ways to help with relief and recovery.  We are in touch with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy and other foundations and will update this list as needed.


Miami Foundation The Hurricane Relief Fund at The Miami Foundation will support relief efforts to help families, communities and businesses rebuild and recover from the devastating effects of Harvey, Irma and Maria. Hurricane Relief Fund (and other funds)

Center for Disaster Philanthropy has launched the CDP Hurricane Recovery Fund for medium- and long-term recovery needs from the devastating hurricane season. CDP Hurricane Recovery Fund

Other Relief Efforts:

Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services is is providing food, shelter and cleaning supplies to victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, wherever they may be. Salvation Army

American Red Cross is providing aid to both Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The money they raise goes toward delivering relief supplies like water, rice, beans, insect repellant and trash bags. They are also shipping in satellite phones. American Red Cross

One America Appeal all five living former presidents have united to raise money for One America Appeal, a fund administered by the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation. Donations will be distributed to a variety of funds aimed at helping storm victims in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Texas and Florida. One America Appeal

Catholic Relief Services donations to the faith-based group will help to provide shelter, water, tarps, tents, kitchen kits and other supplies to families affected by the storm. CRS

United for Puerto Rico The first lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, has teamed up with corporate behemoths like Coca Cola, Walmart and Burger King to help provide aid to hurricane victims. United for Puerto Rico

There are, of course, many charities collecting donations to help victims of the 2017 Hurricane season. Charity Navigator is a good resource to check out their transparency and how they distrubute funds or you can contact us at the Community Foundation for more information.
