Amy Bickers Abeyta has joined the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham as Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Abeyta will direct the Foundation’s strategic marketing initiatives, communications, advertising, social media, and branding.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Abeyta worked as the assistant vice president of communications at Birmingham-Southern College. Over the past decade, she has also handled a broad range of communications at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, worked in custom publishing, and freelanced for local and national publications.

A Louisiana native and journalism graduate of LSU-Shreveport, Abeyta started her career as a reporter and features writer at The Times newspaper in Shreveport, La. before moving to Birmingham in 2003 to work as an associate editor at Southern Living Magazine, where she spent 7 years.

Abeyta moved into the role on Nov. 1. After 10 years with the Foundation, Ginger Jefferson, director of marketing and communications, will retire at the end of the year.

“We are really excited to have Amy join the Community Foundation family,” says Christopher Nanni, President and CEO. “Ginger did a wonderful job during her tenure in building a strategic foundation regarding our marketing and communication. With Amy’s unique skillset, we look forward to building on this foundation and sharing our story even more effectively with the broader community.”
