During the unprecedented COVID-19 public health and economic crisis, the Community Foundation has partnered with local and national experts to offer a series of one-hour community conference calls addressing essential issues for civic, business and nonprofit leaders.

Our most recent call featured Joseph Parilla, fellow of the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings Institution. Over the past year, Brookings has been working in partnership with the City of Birmingham to develop an inclusive economic development strategy. On the call, Parilla shared insights about the effect of the COVID crisis on Birmingham’s economy and strategies for assessing and mitigating the damage.

The Community Foundation has been hosting these calls on a weekly basis since March 27. The calls will move to every other week this month, with the next call on May 15, 2020. Video recordings of the calls, including the call with Brookings, can be found here.
